A grand jury indicted 34-year-old Gregg Page for murder, attempted murder, and several weapons charges on Wednesday, Oct. 2, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said in a news release. Two brothers, 30-year-old Ryan Schenck and 27-year-old Ramir Schenck, were also indicted for hindering apprehension.

Atlantic City police responded to a report of two women severely injured on North Main Avenue at around 4:41 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1. Officers found the victims near the jetty behind the Flagship Resort.

Carley Elbert of Sewell was pronounced dead at the scene. A 29-year-old Pleasantville woman was conscious and had several wounds when she was brought to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Atlantic City Campus.

Police arrested Page and the Schencks in Philadelphia later in the day. The FBI office in Philadelphia and the city's police department assisted in the investigation.

Elbert, 32, was an aspiring actress who appeared in theater, film, and TV productions. Her work included credits on "General Hospital" and the "Elizabeth Smart Story", according to her Backstage profile.

Elbert spent years of her life overcoming mast cell disease, with her battle chronicled through the Hope For Carley Facebook group. She was also inspired to help those struggling with drug addiction after the death of her brother Eric, according to her obituary from Egizi Funeral Home.

Elbert was also remembered for her "unbreakable and beautiful" bond with her mother.

"They fought through life’s toughest times side by side and made many cherished memories," her obituary read. "You would never see one without the other... they were each other’s everything. Carley was her mother’s rock."

A GoFundMe page for Elbert had raised more than $13,500 from at least 160 donations as of press time.

"No young life should be ended this soon and taken in such a senseless tragic way," wrote Christopher Pruneau, the fundraiser's organizer. "Carley did not deserve this, and neither does her mother Nancy as she begins to recover financially."
